Accreditation & Memberships

Maadi British International School is a member of several organisations that help to ensure we maintain our high standard of education and care through inspections, reports and networking. Maadi British International School is formally recognised by a range of key UK and international educational organisations. These accreditations validate MBIS as a high-performing, globally respected school.

The Independent Schools Inspectorate

The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) is a body approved for the purpose of inspection under Section 162A of the Education Act 2002. The ISI reports to the Department for Education (DfE) on the extent to which schools meet statutory requirements. MBIS underwent a full ISI inspection in June 2016 and was awarded ‘excellent’ in all areas of teaching and learning, school leadership and management and in health and safety.

The Department for Education

MBIS is officially recognised by the Department for Education (DfE), bearing a unique reference number on Edubase – the national school reference system. In order to be recognised by the DfE, an overseas British School must have an inspection report showing that its performance against all standards is at least satisfactory. MBIS has been awarded ‘excellent’ in all areas.

BSME (British Schools in the Middle East)

MBIS is a fully accredited member of BSME, as we are BSO inspected school and registered with the DfE (Department for Education) in the United Kingdom. BSME supports a network of high quality British international schools in the region. In addition, they facilitate an invaluable partnership between member schools and business partners that support the development of MBIS.

Penta British International Inspectorate

Penta International Inspectorate operates as a part of the British Overseas Schools Inspection team as authorised by the British Government. MBIS was inspected in 2021 and received the very highest grade of ‘Excellent’ in all areas.

The Council of British International Schools (COBIS)

The Council of British International Schools (COBIS) is the largest premier global association for British schools overseas, committed to school improvement, safeguarding, and supporting British schools and the wider sector. All accredited members need to have been independently Inspected by an Inspection team authorised by the UK Government.

The Association of British Schools Overseas (AoBSO)

The Association of British Schools Overseas (AoBSO) is a not-for-profit membership association working in partnership with the UK Government Department for Education (DfE). AoBSO is the only membership association recognised by the UK Government exclusively for the leaders of BSO accredited schools.
